Summer Garland | A Woven Tribute on Moonstone China

Launched in 1994, Summer Garland is a masterful reimagining of Portmeirion’s most beloved floral heritage. This design takes the iconic flower motifs from the world-famous Botanic Garden range and weaves them into delicate, flowing wreath designs. By arranging these "favourite" flowers into graceful garlands, Portmeirion created a softer, more romantic aesthetic for the formal dining table.

The Innovation: Portmeirion China & The Moonstone Shape

Summer Garland was a headline design for the launch of Portmeirion China—a revolutionary material developed after years of technical research. This "bone-free" substance was an industry breakthrough, offering the translucency, strength, and pure white finish of traditional porcelain but without the use of animal bone.

To showcase this new material, Susan Williams-Ellis sculpted the Moonstone shape. Its elegant, fluid lines provided the perfect "canvas" for the Summer Garland wreaths. This pattern was part of the prestigious "Foundational Five" Moonstone releases, which included:
