Gold Sun 1961
Using a favourite motif of a sun, Susan Williams-Ellis created a design range in 1961 with a sun/star with curling rays. Using a lustre resist method, another of her labour intensive and expensive processes, Susan made some lavishly expensive plates and coffee ware items. By 1963 she moved to using transfers on matt black items to reduce costings. Gold Sun wasn't as popular as Susan had hoped, possibly because there was a tidal wave of similar designs around at the time and was therefore discontinued in the mid sixties. Hand painted items are incredibly rare and are coveted by collectors.
