A beautiful large footed fruit bowl featuring the hand painted Llanelli blue Cockerel and a blue sponge painted border. This lovely hand painted fruit bowl was painted by Margaret Brian. These footed fruit bowls are incredibly rare and all uniquely individual. This truly is a rare chance to buy one so don't miss out.
This jug carries the Pugh Brothers Llanelli Ware backstamp.
Margaret Brian started the Lane Delph handpainting department at Portmeirion and was a highly skilled paintress. She formed the Longton Ladies, a team of similarly skilled paintresses.

Formerly a paintress at Wedgewood, Margaret Brian, a lithographer at Portmeirion, set up a hand painting department at the factory in the early 1990âs, creating a team of very skilled handpaintresses known as âThe Longton Ladiesâ. They created many new designs including âMandarinâ for John Lewis, âLemon Groveâ for Harrods and âOrchard Fruitsâ for Lawleys. Many more designs followed including âThe Lanelli Cockerelâ, âSummer Fruitsâ, âPeach Treeâ, âSweet Peaâ, âBarnyardâ, âPortmeirion Dolphinâ, âMagnoliaâ and âKitchen Gardenâ. The quality of the work by âThe Longton Ladiesâ was far superior to anything available in the United Kingdom at that time but the department was closed in the spring of 1997 due to company re-structuring.
This highly collectable, limited edition, hand painted 8 inch plate, bearing a stylised yellow rose, was made by one of by âThe Longton Ladiesâ specifically for sale in the world famous American Department store Maceyâs in 1996 and comes in a presentation box.
