Vintage Portmeirion Serif Shaped Coffee Pot in the Magic City Ships design, by Susan Williams-Ellis.

A fabulous retro item that looks fantastic on display despite having some age related crazing of the glaze.

There is also a blue glaze mark inside the pot and a few more on the base. There is also a minor chip on the base as shown in the photographs.

The coffee pot is a slight pattern second so has no backstamp.

Magic City

Inspired by her travels, Susan's Magic City design captures the sense of adventure and excitement of foreign lands. Dome topped buildings and towers with fireworks behind them in a celebratory fashion.

This pattern was designed for the Serif shape of pottery and when released it was an instant success. The design carried on to the very early 1970's.

Magic City was the first patterns to be sold through British auction houses and has become very collectable.
