Weeping Hearts
This graceful design of the flowering plant 'Bleeding Hearts' (Dicentra) was changed by Susan Williams-Ellis to the less miserable 'Weeping Hearts' when she used a reproduction of an eighteen century flower illustration on a piece of Minton pottery. 'Weeping Hearts' are quintessential cottage garden plants and in 1986 when Susan introduced this pattern on the Romantic-shaped ware, the vibrancy of the colours and simplicity was stunning. Sadly, it's production was short lived as it wasn't as successful as any of the other flower motifs such as Botanic Garden. Susan was convinced it was because it was a single motif and therefore less collectable. We think it is beautiful, charming and gorgeous, but items are hard to find these days.
