Talisman
Talisman was introduced in 1962 and used the relatively new technique of screen printing. The design was a great hit and looked modern, up to date and very trendy for the time. Exercised in Susan's trademark loose and energetic style; the design comprises of circles, squares and rectangles with a repeat pattern of dots for the rims and borders. Talisman was available in Green/Blue, Yellow/Orange, and Pink/Purple colourways. Early coloured items were painted by hand over the black transfer print. Some early pieces of Talisman were also left uncoloured, creating a monochrome design that was cheaper to produce. These black and white pieces were not produced in any great numbers however and the hand coloured pieces were stopped in favour of using a coloured transfer instead. The range of products in the Talisman design continued until 1968. A must for any Portmeirion collector.
