Portmeirion Pottery Magic City Sugar Bowl, MC26
Portmeirion
A Portmeirion Sugar Bowl, Magic City, Designed By Susan Williams-Ellis.
This design was introduced in 1966 and looks spectacular. Although possibly based on buildings from Portmeirion itself, it reminds us of The Duomo in Florence, the magical city we stayed in for our honeymoon.
This sugar bowl carries the black version of the Magic City backstamp.
There is some age related crazing on the white sections, as is typical with this design.

Magic City
Inspired by her travels, Susan's Magic City design captures the sense of adventure and excitement of foreign lands. Dome topped buildings and towers with fireworks behind them in a celebratory fashion.
This pattern was designed for the Serif shape of pottery and when released it was an instant success. The design carried on to the very early 1970's.
Magic City was the first patterns to be sold through British auction houses and has become very collectable.
