Harvest Blue
In 1995 Harvest Blue was launched by Portmeirion with the knowledge of how popular blue and white pottery had previously been, using their own twist on a traditional delph-like motif. Harvest Blue was actually designed by Susan's daughter Angharad Menna, drawing inspiration from 18th century Dutch still life paintings. The range used the Romantic shape with monochrome blue motifs, breaking away from the colourful flowers and fruit of Botanic Garden and Pomona, producing a clean, refreshing and still practical collection. Despite the popularity amongst faithful collectors, sales proved too slow to fulfil the current business model and therefore the range was withdrawn in 1999. Harvest Blue is a very modern take on the old fashioned blue and white ceramics and it's popularity may well make a resurgence!
