Garden Herbs
The Garden Herbs motif was created by long esteemed designer Pat Albeck specially for the National Trust. Pat had been designing eye catching and vibrant designs since the fifties and was commissioned by the National Trust to design one of several ranges. Pat Albeck, who recently passed away in 2017, was affectionately known as 'The Queen of the Tea towel', due to the considerably amount of decorative tea towels she designed in her lifetime. Among her astonishingly output were tableware, textiles, wallpapers, dress fabrics, accessories and children's books. Although most of Pat's output was very colourful, this motif is very subtle and toned down, with delicate shades of green. It would appear to have been drawn with coloured felt pens, a technique that Susan Williams-Ellis was not adverse to using herself.
