Kingdom Of The Sea
This new range, launched in 1972, based on Susan's newly designed Drum shapes, was a reflection of her love of marine life. Reproduced in sepia from 18th century copper engraved prints, they show different varieties of sea life, from fierce looking exotic fish to Crustacea and shells. The fish appear on the dinner plates and oval platters; Crustacea on smaller plates and shells on tureens and tea/coffee ware. The items bearing the beautiful shells are hard to find and much sought after. Larger items bearing the fish and Crustacea have a backstamp showing Neptune riding the waves with dolphins along with the name of the species depicted. Smaller items with multiple shell motifs have a Neptune backstamp only. Disappointing sales resulted in this striking design being discontinued in 1977 and examples rarely come up for sale.
