Purely Portmeirion Cake Stands
This beautiful cake stand is made by me here at Purely Portmeirion. All of my cake stands are made from genuine Portmeirion plates. The cake stands are either made from brand new, unused plates or pre-loved, vintage items. Which ever plates are used, I have chosen them with the uptmost care to create beautiful cake stands. Portmeirion itself only produces a small range of cake stand designs and certainly not using vintage or discontinued ranges, so I thought it would be nice to create some of my own for you all to enjoy. Being a dab-hand with power tools, I have carefully drilled through the plates, inserting the brand new chrome plated fittings topped with a heart handle, which carries through my Purely Portmeirion trade mark typeface; plus, I think they look beautiful and chic. All of the cake stands come with a diagram to aid you in putting the stand together. It is very simple and requires nothing more than a 'Philips' screwdriver to tighten one screw on the base. The stems between the plates are then just hand tightened. This allows easy dismantling for washing after you have piled the stand high with delicious cup cakes and shared the lot with your friends!
Possibly one of the most iconic designs by Susan Williams-Ellis, Totem was launched in 1963 and continued into the early 1970's. Totem is on display in museums here and abroad and appears in publications as a design symbol of its day. Totem was produced over the widest range of Portmeirion's shapes of the time. Very early versions of the Totem cylinder teapots had a shorter cut off spout. Totem was produced in amber, olive green, sage green, cobalt blue, ice blue, celadon and white.
A must for any Portmeirion collector.
