Portmeirion Cheese Dome and Plate In Totem Cobalt Blue Designed By Susan Williams-Ellis.
This brilliant design was introduced in 1963 and was extremely popular. This lovely cheese dome is in good condition and in the most popular of colourways for the Totem design. There are some minor usage marks to the plate and a small chip on the dome, please see photographs.
The Totem design proved to be one of the most iconic ranges of pottery from Portmeirion and much imitated by other potteries, but never to the same quality or excellent design.

Totem
Possibly one of the most iconic designs by Susan Williams-Ellis, Totem was launched in 1963 and continued into the early 1970's. Totem is on display in museums here and abroad and appears in publications as a design symbol of its day. Totem was produced over the widest range of Portmeirion's shapes of the time. Very early versions of the Totem cylinder teapots had a shorter cut off spout. Totem was produced in amber, olive green, sage green, cobalt blue, ice blue, celadon and white.
A must for any Portmeirion collector.
