Purely Portmeirion Cake Stands
This beautiful cake stand is made by me here at Purely Portmeirion. All of my cake stands are made from genuine Portmeirion plates. The cake stands are either made from brand new, unused plates or pre-loved, vintage items. Which ever plates are used, I have chosen them with the upmost care to create beautiful cake stands. Portmeirion itself only produces a small range of cake stand designs and certainly not using vintage or discontinued ranges, so I thought it would be nice to create some of my own for you all to enjoy. Being a dab-hand with power tools, I have carefully drilled through the plates, inserting the brand new chrome plated fittings topped with a heart handle, which carries through my Purely Portmeirion trade mark typeface; plus, I think they look beautiful and chic. All of the cake stands come with a diagram to aid you in putting the stand together. It is very simple and requires nothing more than a 'Philips' screwdriver to tighten one screw on the base. The stems between the plates are then just hand tightened. This allows easy dismantling for washing after you have piled the stand high with delicious cup cakes and shared the lot with your friends!
The Summer Strawberries design was launched in 1980 and was designed by Susan Williams-Ellis's daughter Angharad, who spent hours drawing and painting pictures of her mothers strawberry plants, as the inspiration for this design. This design proved to be very popular especially with the Italian market and the design was finally retired in 1999.
