Oranges and Lemons
This vibrant, Mediterranean inspired pattern was first launched in 1975. Susan Williams-Ellis hand painted the design whilst staying in her home in Ibiza and demonstrates her distinctive ability to design and paint these wonderfully colourful fruits and foliage with dexterity and verve. This design varies from others in the Portmeirion fold in that the tea and coffee cup saucers have sprays of citrus foliage on them than can be seen radiating from under the cups when placed on them. Larger pieces from the range display both orange and lemon motifs whilst the smaller items have just one on each, such as the salt and pepper pots. Oranges and Lemons was extremely popular with its invigorating colours and was withdrawn in 1983.
